A seminar to help you listen and respond more effectively in the workplace.
Course Description
A 6-hour seminar to help you listen and respond more efficiently and effectively
Course Description/Agenda
- Do you “zone out” during meetings, classes, or discussions?
- Do you have difficulty “reading” a person’s body language?
- Do you have difficulty responding appropriately during meetings or discussions?
- Do you have difficulty taking effective notes during meetings, classes, or discussions?
- Do you avoid speaking with certain people because of personality conflicts?
- Do you have difficulty retaining complex information during meetings, classes, or discussions?
If you answered “YES” to any of these questions, you are likely a “Passive Listener”
To become an “Active Listener” you need to develop listening goals that fit your individual thinking style – and the thinking style of the speaker.
What will I learn?
In this seminar, you will learn how to use your personal thinking style to:
- Identify the true meaning of your speaker’s body language
- Use your body language to improve your communication with others
- Identify your speaker’s true intentions to avoid misinterpretation
- Take effective notes during meetings, classes, and discussions
- Improve your overall concentration skills while listening
You will also learn how to listen & respond appropriately during:
- Meetings and presentations
- Face-to-face conversations
- Telephone conversations
- Discussions with co-workers, customers, supervisors, and vendors
- Confrontations with angry (or hostile) co-workers, customers, supervisors, and vendors
What makes this seminar different?
It is virtually impossible to remain completely attentive during every conversation, meeting or training session; none of us can maintain 100% focus, 100% of the time. Therefore, we will show you how to recognize key phrases and non-verbal communication that will signal when to respond and how to elicit the desired reaction from the speaker. After all, listening is only half the battle.
What does each seminar participant receive?
During the Seminar
A Target Learning Participant Workbook which includes:
- All Target Learning listening strategies
- Step-by-step guidelines for implementing the strategies
- Templates for note-taking (for before, during, and after listening)
- Templates to help you remain organized and on time (while listening)
- Color-coded dividers for easy reference to all the strategies
After the Seminar
